Privacy policy

This policy covers the website at nativetongue.io and the software published by Native Tongue LLC ("we", "us"). It explains what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to make us stop.

The short version: we do not track you, we do not sell data, and we carry no advertising or third party analytics.

The website

nativetongue.io is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and has no login.

The company pages embed nothing from third parties. The Puhekieli product pages under /puhekieli/ load web fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com and Google receives your IP address and user agent in order to serve those font files. No cookie is set by that request and we receive nothing from it.

The site is served by Cloudflare, our hosting provider, which processes standard request data such as IP address, user agent, and requested URL in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We do not use that data to build profiles of visitors.

Our apps

No tracking
Our apps do not track you across other apps or websites, contain no advertising SDKs, and contain no third party analytics SDKs. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
Content you enter
Text you type, dictate, or import for translation is sent to a language model provider so that a translation can be returned, and then used to display your result. Translations, history, and saved phrases are stored on your device.
Speech
Dictation uses Apple's Speech framework and runs on device where the operating system supports it. Text to speech may send the text being spoken to a voice provider in order to generate audio.
Shared translation cache
If you turn on the option to make translations faster, the translated text and a one way hash of the normalized input are stored in a shared cache so that phrases others have already translated come back quickly. This is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking. The setting can be turned off, and when it is off nothing is contributed to the cache.
Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We receive confirmation that a purchase is valid. We never see your payment card details.
Diagnostics
We do not collect automatic crash or usage telemetry. If you choose to send us a bug report by email, we hold what you send us for as long as it takes to resolve the issue.

Processors we use

We rely on a small number of service providers to run the product. They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your content for their own purposes.

  • Cloudflare, for website hosting and delivery.
  • Google Fonts, for serving the web fonts used on the Puhekieli product pages.
  • A language model provider, for translation and grammar analysis.
  • Speech voice providers, for generating spoken audio.
  • Apple, for app distribution, in app purchase, and on device speech recognition.

Children

Our software is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to how we use it. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR. Residents of California have comparable rights under the CCPA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.

To make a request, email contact@nativetongue.io from the address you have used with us and tell us what you want done. We will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for this.

Retention

Data stored in the app stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Support correspondence is kept while an issue is open and for a reasonable period afterwards. Shared cache entries hold no identifier that ties them to you.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, note it in the app.
